SJEN: How Do We Address Standards in a Social Justice Classroom? 11/10/2009 4:00 PM - 11/10/2009 6:00 PM Calling
educators interested in sharing ideas and resources and supporting each other
in teaching within a social justice framework. Join us for a meeting of the Social Justice Educators
Network (SJEN). This is not a
workshop, but an opportunity for teachers to build community and develop as a
professional through participating in an ongoing discussion group linking
social justice issues with classroom practice. While
the group discussions will evolve according to the interests and needs of its
members, suggested discussion topics have been selected to frame the
conversations. Please feel free to bring resources (books, articles, curriculum
resources, etc.) to share with others related to these topics or social justice
education in general. Snacks
and good conversation will be the order of the day. Clock hours will also be available to attendees. Contact
Jenny Eisele at Jennifer.eisele@spps.org or 651.487.7312 to RSVP or
for additional information. SJEN will meet on the following Tuesdays through-out the school year at the Multicultural Resource Center from 4 to 6 pm, with the first fifteen minutes set aside for socializing and networking. September
