Chinese Americans Trunk
Overview:
This trunk provides artifacts and lesson plans for helping students develop a greater understanding of what it means to be a Chinese American. Through journal entries written by a peer, students learn about cultural values and traditions as well as issues of prejudice and stereotypes. This unit would be an excellent introduction to a unit on immigration as there are many parallels that could be drawn to other immigrant groups throughout history as well as the students own lives.
