Mesoamerican Sculpture
Become an art investigator using the MRCs collection of Mesoamerican sculptures. Learn about the fascinating Mayan and Aztec cultures through examining clues in the artwork. Through investigating the geometry and symmetry in designs and symbols in Mesoamerican sculpture, students will create their own personal symbol that represents something about their culture or identity. Teachers may wish to extend this activity back in the classroom by having students transfer their designs to a clay vessel and fire it.
